Are the food tours year round? Tours are available according to demand. From May through October, we continue tours in any type of weather, however, in December through April, tours will be dependent on demand, whether restaurants are open, and weather (we prefer not to tour in blizzards or a polar vortex, but snow is just fine).
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies? Unfortunately we cannot accommodate dietary restrictions on our tours at this time. We are working with restaurants to provide for vegetarian and gluten free diets, so check back with us!
How much walking is there on the tours? Downtown Food Tours are about 1.4 miles, with lots of stops throughout.
How much food is served on the tour? The Downtown Food Tour includes 6 tastings over 3 hours. Some restaurants have tiny bites and some are larger. Consider this a substantial lunch portion.
Are there drinks served on the food tour? Our Downtown Food Tour does not include alcohol. We can customize Private Food Tours to include beer or cocktails.
Where does the tour start and end? Downtown Charlevoix tours start and end in East Park. Downtown Petoskey Tours start and end in Pennsylvania Park. Exact meeting locations will be included in your ticket.
Where should I park? There are ample public metered parking lots in both Charlevoix and Petoskey, as well as free and paid street parking. During summer weekends, parking finding a spot can be difficult, and the farther away you get from a main street, the less expensive the meters will be. Be sure to give yourself extra time to get to the tour meeting place on time.
How many people go on the tour? Food tours include up to 14 guests. Private tours are available for groups of 6 guests and larger.
Are gratuities included for the guide? No. If you felt your tour guide did a great job, please feel free to show your appreciation with a tip. Standard gratuities in the service industry are 15-20%.
What should I wear on the tour? We encourage guests to wear comfortable walking shoes. Tours run rain or shine, so be sure to check the weather and plan to bring an umbrella or sunscreen depending on the day.
Are kids allowed on the tour? Yes, children are welcome to join the Downtown Food Tour and the Food + Beer Tour (food tour only), and we offer a discounted ticket for guests under 12 years old. However, please note that these tours are 3 hours in length and include walking and standing, which may not be be appropriate for some children.
Do you offer gift certificates? Yes. Gift certificates make great gifts for birthdays and holidays.
