Fishing Charters & Guides

Northern Michigan is a fisherman’s dream whether you want to fly fish, hire a charter, toss a line from a dock or bring your own fishing boat and spend the day on the lake. Walloon Lake yields bass and walleye. Petoskey’s Bear River plays host to brook trout, salmon, and steelhead. Head to Lake Charlevoix in Boyne City for walleye, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, bluegills, and rock bass. And those who hit the colder waters of Little Traverse Bay will likely pull in trout, salmon, bass and steelhead. Check out for a list of guides and charters that will help Dad get that perfect catch! Morel Feast

Elusive and delicious, morel mushrooms are a wonderful spring time delicacy in Pure Michigan. It is difficult to describe the famous morel flavor. It is nutty, meaty, and unique whether cooked or dried. Treat your Dad to an early Father’s Day feast with tickets to City Park Grill’s annual Morel Wine Dinner on Friday, June 14. Make sure to call 231-347-0101 to make your reservations. If you can’t make it to dinner, most local restaurants feature morels on the menu as often as they can get them! History Tour of Charlevoix

Charlevoix is home to the famous Earl Young mushroom houses. If your Dad is a history buff, he will love one of the guided walking or Gem Car tours of the unique homes constructed from stones and boulders that line the miles of shoreline in Northern Michigan. After your tour, head over to the iconic Weathervane Restaurant which features a mind-boggling boulder mantle designed by Earl Young himself! (Photo credit Mushroom House Tours)
